Benefits of Copper fire clips

Copper has a higher melting point than steel and is the only material used to hold fire alarm cables in place. These cables nowadays can be soft core but for fire alarms Mineral Insulated cable is the best available.

Copper single fixing clips and two way saddles are produced in a variety of sizes and powder coated with low smoke and fume Akzo Nobel powder to London Underground specification. Colours available are red, white, black and orange (bare clips and saddles are also available).

MCCP fire copper cable clips are for single fixing, single cable runs and are suitable for fire alarm cables and visible installations. Made from Copper BS1432 C101, they have Akzo Nobel Interpon LSF (low smoke and fume) coating to REACH 1907/206. Manufactured by Essex Engineering since 1948.

MCS fire copper saddles are for double fixing, double cable runs and have the same specifications as the MCCP fire copper cable clips.

Essex Engineering was established in 1935 and moved to its present premises in 1940. During the 2nd World War, it made metal stampings for the MOD. After the war, in 1948 it started to produce the range of copper clips and saddles for Pyrotenax cable (mineral insulated cable) together with the terminating tools necessary for installation.


The latest coin slide, the Straight Six, can operate on 1 to 6 coins of different diameter and is mechanically programmable. To date 350,000 of these have found their way around the world.


We produced over 20 million copper clips, saddles and spacer bars along with tens of thousands of different terminating tools.
